Who can forget when Josh Harris, the founder of Jupiter Communications, set up 32 cameras and 72 microphones in his Manhattan apartment in early 2000. Everyone thought he had gone crazy.
Although the idea had previously been popularized by Jennifer Ringley with the infamous Jennicam, Josh wanted to see for himself what life would be like "online" 24/7.
His site, WeLiveInPublic.org, lasted only four months, during which time Josh lost his girlfriend and part of his fortune as the Internet bubble began its downward spiral.
But he doesn't have any regrets.
Today Josh, now 43, happily lives a more private life offline. He says his life as an artist is just taking off, and he plans to move to Paris in the fall.
We know that Josh's virtual time capsule will have a lasting artistic impact. And we'll stay tuned for his next incarnation.
